Mondragon Cardigan

Our best seller for a reason. The Mondragon is a loosely fitted, open-front cardigan with batwing sleeves and rib-knit cuffs. This piece goes with everything and makes any outfit better. Each colorway is made with a different handwoven fabric from Latin America, which is why prices vary. The fabric behind each one comes from a different artisan community, with its own story and process. Cozy, colorful, and genuinely hard to take off.

Meet the artisans behind your fabric at our Our Story page.

Note: We have limited fabric availability for this design due to its popularity.

About the Artisans

This piece is available in multiple fabrics, each handcrafted by a different artisan community across Latin America.

The Green Multicolor and Lobo Rojo fabrics are handwoven by Don Manuel & Family in Nahuala, Guatemala, using a traditional weaving loom passed down through generations. Manuel de Jesus, his family, and the entire village just outside of Nahuala weave not only as a source of income but to keep their culture and traditions alive.

The Mustard Yellow, Orange & Blue Checkered, and Red & White Striped fabrics are handwoven by Don Chepe in Concepción de Ataco, El Salvador. Our oldest artisan, Don Chepe has over 50 years of weaving experience and has devoted his life to teaching the next generation how to preserve traditional weaving.

The Indigo Starbursts fabric is hand-dyed by La Hacienda de los Nacimientos in Suchitoto, El Salvador, using traditional hand-dyeing techniques. Founded in 1995, La Hacienda is one of only two organic indigo farms in the world. Owner Rhina de Rehmann is dedicated to sustainable tropical agriculture and providing employment opportunities to local Salvadorans.

The Cream Multicolor and Black & White Striped fabrics are sourced by Sandra from Aguayos in Cusco, Peru, who welcomed us with kindness when we visited her store in 2021 and taught us what every pattern represented.

This piece is sewn by Doña Magdalena in Sanford, North Carolina, who brings over 30 years of craftsmanship to every piece she makes.

Fabric Content
